The human eye perceives highly saturated colors (like those emitted by pure RGB LEDs) as being visually brighter than less saturated light of the exact same physical luminance.

To capitalize on this, some manufacturers multiply the true optical lumen measurement by an arbitrary factor (often 1.5x to 2.4x) and call the result "LED Lumens."

The Math: A projector advertised at 1,000 LED Lumens may actually measure at only 400 to 450 ANSI Lumens.

Conversion Rule of Thumb: 1 ANSI Lumen ≈ 0.8 ISO Lumens. Always convert unverified "LED Lumens" back to ANSI or ISO before comparing products.
